The Marion County Development Commission is seeking bid proposals from companies
interested in printing the 2023 Red Rock Area Travel Guide. This publication is used as the
primary fulfillment piece for leisure travel and workforce recruitment request for the Marion
County Development Commission (MCDC), a department of county government. The publication is also
distributed at the Iowa Welcome Centers, advertising fulfillment and local distribution points.
PROJECT INFORMATION:
Bid Deadline: One copy of your bid is due to MCDC at ceysink@marioncountyiowa.gov by noon on
Monday, June 6, 2022.
PUBLICATION DETAILS:
- Paper: Gloss paper. Please indicate on bid weight of cover paper and inside content pages. Cover should be slightly heavier paper.
- Number of Pages: 52 total pages-Page Break down: 4 pages of front/back cover in heavier stock and remaining 48 pages inside content pages
- Finished size: 7.5” wide by 10.5” high
- Quantity: 17,000
- Color: 4 color or full color process throughout publication with bleeds
- Binding: Publication folded and bound
- Packaging: Guides must be boxed in quantities per box of no more than 80 per box. Boxes must be capable of being shipped.
- Storage: We request free storage of guides throughout the year. Please indicate on bid if this is possible.
- Delivery: We request free delivery to entities within Marion County throughout the year. We understand that deliveries would be made as schedule allows in combination with other deliveries you may have. Please indicate on the bid if this is possible.
- Payment: We pre-pay a deposit in June for the publication to guarantee paper costs. Generally, this is from 50-70%
- of the overall project cost. We pay the remaining balance due once the publication is finalized generally in January.
TENTATIVE PROJECT SCHDULE:
June 6 - Bid proposal deadline
June 8 - MCDC review of bid proposals
June 10 - Notification sent regarding bid selection
June 17 - Deposit Invoice needed
Dec. 12 - Design completed & project sent to printer
Dec. 19 - Printer proof approved and project ready for printing
Jan. 26 - Publication printed
Jan. 30 - Publication printed and ready for distribution
