Horns Ferry Bridge Area
Located below the Lake Red Rock Dam, near Howell Station Recreational Area, 3.5 miles south of Pella, the Horns Ferry Bridge Area offers a great place to come see the Eagles of Lake Red Rock. Don’t worry about cars, this is strictly a pedestrian bridge. During the late winter and early spring months, large numbers of Bald Eagles line the tree-covered banks of the Des Moines River. A great view with the naked eye. The “Winged Expressions” sculpture of birds important to the Des Moines River Corridor, signage describing the importance of the river corridor, history of the bridge, and looking onto the Gladys Black Bald Eagle Refuge across the river.
