City/School Election
A City School Election is an election that occurs bi-annually on odd-numbered years in November. This recently combined election is used to elect the Mayor and Council Members for specific cities within Marion County. It is also used to elect School Board Members for specific school districts located in and adjacent to Marion County.

Archived Election Details

The combined City-School Election will take place on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 with all seventeen countywide polling places available. Polling place hours are from 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

KEY DATES

  • City Candidate Filing Period: Monday, August 23 - Thursday, September 16
    • The Auditor's Office is the filing officer for city mayor and council candidates and is open until 5:00 p.m. on September 16. 
  • School Candidate Filing Period: Monday, August 23 - Thursday, September 16
    • The school secretary is the filing officer for school board candidates and must be open until 5:00 p.m. on September 16.
  • First day Auditor may accept absentee ballot request forms: Tuesday, August 24
  • First day to vote absentee in person at the Auditor's office: Wednesday, October 13
  • First day Auditor's office may mail requested absentee ballots: Wednesday, October 13
  • Voter pre-registration deadline: Monday, October 18, Auditor's office open until 5:00 p.m.
  • Last day Auditor may accept absentee ballot request for mailed absentee ballots: Monday, October 18, Auditor's office open until 5:00 p.m.
  • Last day to vote absentee in person at the Auditor's office: Monday, November 1
  • Absentee ballot receipt deadline: Tuesday, November 2 at 8:00 p.m.
    • exceptions: UOCAVA and Safe at Home Ballots
