  • Hours: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm. Some occasional night meetings

Job Summary

Assist in the day-to-day office operations of the Zoning Office.

Job Duties

Assist the public with questions, permits, applications, and property owner conflicts via the telephone or in person.

Assist in the implementation and enforcement of zoning and subdivision regulations according to Marion County Code.

Assist with the Code enforcement inspections and follow-up visits to sites for zoning. Assist with the coordination with other County Offices.

Assist with site visits of properties to take pictures, inspect or document for rezoning applications, subdivisions, home occupations, and site plans.

Assist in maintaining orderly development and regulation of the growth in the county.

Assist with reviewing plats of subdivisions.

Assist with working with surveyors on land divisions.

Coordinate with other County or City offices as needed.

Assist with the preparation of notifications, legal notices, and other necessary paperwork for the Zoning Commission, the Board of Adjustments, and the Board of Supervisors.

Attends and takes minutes for all the Marion County Zoning Commission and Board of Adjustments meetings.

Assist in processing incoming building permits, billing, and any questions.  

Assist in the processing of online permits which includes tracking payments and coordination of payments with the Treasurer’s office.

Assist with scanning and filing of documents.

Other duties as assigned.
 

Job Qualifications

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

Prefer five years of real estate, land use, or planning and zoning experience. 

Prefer knowledge of Marion County and Marion County Code of Ordinances.

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

Proficient in Online meeting platforms.

Valid driver license
