All petitions are due by the 10th of the month prior to the meeting. This allows adequate time to process all petitons.
The Marion County Board of Adjustment is a five-member board whose members are appointed by the Marion County Board of Supervisors.
The Board of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial body given the authority under the Code of Iowa to make special exceptions to the Marion County Zoning Ordinance.
The Board of Adjustment also reviews and approves or denies special use permits, approves or denies variance requests, and hears appeals and petitions of any property owner aggrieved by the decisions of the Zoning Administrator. The meetings are scheduled for the 2nd Tuesday of the month. The meetings are held at 3014 E. Main St., Knoxville (Marion County Office building) starting at 5:00p.m. Meetings may be cancelled when there are no pending applications.
