Zoning Commission

The Marion County Zoning Commission is responsible for reviewing preliminary plats, final plats, site plan, zoning changes, zoning ordinance changes/amendments, comprehensive plan changes/amendments, and other planning and development issues. The Marion County Board of Supervisors appoints the members of the five-person commission. Planning and development issues brought before the Zoning Commission are reviewed and give a recommendation of approval or denial to the Board of Supervisors. The Zoning Commission meetings are scheduled for the 3rd Tuesday of each month if there are any requests. Meetings are open to the public and must have a quorum, 3 out of 5 commissioners present, in order to take any official action. All regularly scheduled meetings begin at 5:00 p.m. The meetings are held at 3014 East Main St., Knoxville (Marion County Office Building).
