Researching your genealogy

There are many avenues to research genealogy.  At the Marion County Recorder's Office, you can research our public records for births, deaths, marriages, deeds, etc. 

If you would like to search our public records room, please make an appointment. We will show you where to search, but will not conduct the search process for you.

If you would like to request a CERTIFIED copy of a vital record (birth, death, marriage):

  • Complete application and genealogy entitlement chart 
  • $15 check, money order, or cash
  • Copy of valid Photo I.D.

  • $5 check, money order, or cash
  • Copy of valid Photo I.D.

If you would like to request copies of deeds, in person, we accept only cash or check for these copy fees.
